Ceramic braces

Tooth-Colored Ceramic Braces are identical in size and shape to metal braces, but their brackets are tooth-colored or clear, blending in with the teeth. Some models even utilize tooth-colored wires for an even more inconspicuous appearance.

Clearly Beneficial

Tooth-coloured ceramic braces offer a transparent alternative to traditional metal braces. Crafted from individual clear sapphire crystals, each bracket undergoes a process of growth, heat treatment, and polishing to ensure exceptional smoothness and translucency. With sapphire ranking second only to diamond in strength, ceramic braces are exceptionally durable.

What Are Ceramic Braces?

Imagine the typical metal braces but crafted from a white or clear material for a less conspicuous appearance. These fixed ceramic brackets are attached to each tooth and linked by an archwire. Sometimes, the wire is also tooth-coloured (or ‘frosted’), seamlessly blending the entire appliance with the teeth. Tiny elastic bands known as ‘ligatures’ secure the wire onto each bracket, often matching the colour of the brackets themselves.

Ceramic braces v metal braces

While ceramic braces are still noticeable up close, their improved aesthetics can boost wearers’ confidence. Teenagers and children can steer clear of any teasing about having a ‘metal mouth’ in the playground, while working adults may find that clear braces lend them a more professional appearance.

Due to the higher-quality materials involved, ceramic braces typically come at a higher cost than metal ones. Wearers may also need to watch their diet to prevent staining the clear or white ligatures. Besides these considerations, there are no significant drawbacks compared to metal braces.
