What is Composite Bonding?

At Bristol Dental Specialists, our skilled Prosthodontist, Saba Samadi, is pleased to offer you composite bonding – a quick and effective way to improve the appearance of your teeth.

Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure that uses a tooth-coloured composite resin material to reshape, repair, or enhance the look of your teeth. It’s a versatile solution that can address various concerns, such as:

  • Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
  • Closing small gaps between teeth
  • Improving the shape or colour of teeth
  • Whitening discoloured teeth

Meet our Prosthodontist:
Dr Saba Samadi

Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) at Cardiff University,
Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MPROS)

Dr. Saba Samadi is a highly accomplished dentist, having earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with distinction from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.

Seeking to further specialise, Dr. Saba moved to the UK, where she completed a Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) at Cardiff University, once again graduating with distinction. During the same year, she successfully attained membership in the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MPROS). Through her postgraduate training, she mastered the treatment of complex restorative cases, including implant placement and restoration, severe tooth wear management, and advanced cosmetic dentistry.

How Does it Work?

The procedure involves the application of a tooth-coloured resin to the surface of your tooth. Our specialist will then carefully shape and sculpt this material to achieve the desired aesthetic outcome.

Once the ideal shape is achieved, a special light is used to harden and secure the resin firmly in place.

The Benefits of Composite Bonding

Composite bonding offers several advantages, making it a popular choice for cosmetic dental enhancements:

  • Cost-Effective: Often more affordable than other cosmetic procedures like dental veneers.
  • Minimally Invasive: Typically requires little to no extensive tooth preparation or drilling, preserving your natural tooth structure.
  • Quick Results: The procedure can frequently be completed in just a single visit, allowing you to see immediate improvements.
  • Reversible: If for any reason the results aren’t what you envisioned, the bonding can be removed, and your tooth can usually be restored to its almost original state.

Longevity and Maintenance

Composite bonding upon average lasts 5 years, however with good oral hygiene and proper care, it can typically last longer.

It’s important to be aware that some maintenance and touch-ups may be required to keep your smile looking its best.

Are there Alternatives?

Yes, depending on your specific needs and goals, other cosmetic dental procedures you might consider include:

  • Veneers: Thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth.
  • Crowns: Caps that cover the entire tooth.
  • Teeth Whitening: Professional treatments to lighten the shade of your teeth.

During your consultation, Saba will discuss all suitable options with you to help you choose the best treatment for your smile.
