As with most things, in dentistry prevention is always better than cure.
With more adult teeth being lost through gum disease rather than tooth decay, regular dental hygiene treatment is essential to keep your gums and teeth healthy. Regular visits to a hygienist combined with dental check-ups and looking after your teeth and gums at home will greatly improve the appearance of your teeth and your oral health.
Bristol Dental Specialists are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Ban as Dental Hygienist and Therapist. Emma will be working closely alongside our Specialist Orthodontists helping to achieve and maintain excellent oral hygiene before, during and after treatment.
Emma will provide a range of services including routine check-ups, hygienist appointments with oral hygiene instruction, Airflow therapy (including stain removal) and prescribed tooth whitening. Emma has a particular interest in Restorative Dentistry and will work closely with James Ban, our Specialist in this area, to achieve the best possible aesthetic outcomes for patients.
Graduating as a Dental Therapist from Cardiff University in 2019 Emma has since worked in several clinical environments including primary care and hospital-based roles caring for patients with head and neck cancers. This has laid the foundations for her knowledge and experience in looking after the gum health of patients with complex medical conditions in a gentle and thorough way. As a dental therapist Emma can also perform restorative dental treatments such as composite fillings.
Emma enjoys working with her patients to design a personalised prevention plan to optimise dental and periodontal health. She ensures every patient has the best possible experience and provides a relaxing and comfortable environment. Emma offers evening appointments to allow every patient access to our hygiene services.
It is recommended by dentists that you visit the hygienist regularly to maintain great oral health and Emma is available to provide treatment via direct access meaning that you can self-refer to her. A typical first appointment will include a clinical examination, X-rays if required, a scale and Airflow therapy (stain removal). Your dental hygienist will also offer tailored advice on how to maintain good dental health and demonstrate techniques you can use at home. They can identify signs of gum disease and will refer you to a dentist or periodontist if they see anything that needs further treatment.
Patients can also be referred to Emma by their dentist, our referral process is simple, and we would love to welcome you to our practice. Bristol Dental Specialists is a private Specialist and referral practice conveniently located in Clifton, Bristol. We are focused on offering Specialist dental services for referring dentists throughout the South-West of England and South Wales.
